Anyone who has ever attended an album signing event can attest to the fact that it can get pretty rowdy. While they don’t always end up falling into chaos, the possibility of such a thing occurring is always present.
And that’s just what happened at a recent signing hosted by none other than Justin “Who-the-hell-is-this-guy” Beiber, whose thousands of teenage fans quickly turned the scene from “album signing event”, to, in the words of Nassau County Police Det. Lt. Kevin Smith, “A public safety concern”.
But that’s not what this article is about. This article is about James Roppo, executive to Mr. Beiber, and what he did, (or didn’t) do. Once the police assessed the scene as quickly falling out of control, they asked for Roppo’s help to disperse the crowd, which he didn’t do.
Roppo has been arrested for not aiding the police, after they very specifically ordered him to post a message to twitter, asking the crowd to disperse.
Roppo is, understandably, pleading “not guilty” to all charges.
No no no! This is back-pedaling! We’re supposed to punish people for twittering, not for refusing to!
