Here’s a bit of news that came a quarter-century too late – Oprah, host of her imaginatively titled show, “Oprah”, will finally be ending the show in 2011, at the end of her 25th season.
Thank God.
From a business angle, the show has lost 7% of its audience in the past year, a devastatingly high number for any network TV show. To be fair, her show and status was still overwhelmingly positive, enough so that the internet decided to troll the shit out of her back in 2008. Oh, damn, those were some good times.
Oprah is fully expected to stay in the public view, and many are expecting her to launch a new show on OWN, the Oprah Winfrey Network. Which, incidentally enough, I just found out existed while researching this article. I swear to God, if this channel somehow snuck its devious little way into my cable package, Comcast is going to have some questions to answer.
At least she won’t be right in our faces every time we turn the television on.
People will have to think and act for themselves, rather than following the recommendations of that bloated beast. I’m not sure if this is a good thing or not.
