Nintendo, clearly not happy with their stock plummeting 50% since last year, has come forth and announced the fourth hardware iteration of their money-printing handheld. Dubbed the called the Nintendo DSi LL, the unit looks nothing short of promising.
The unit’s selling point is the size. While the screen resolution is still the same, the screen itself has been increased by nearly 30%, to an impressive 4.2 inches. The stylus is now the size of the actual pen, with battery life ranging from 4-17 hours depending on screen brightness. It’s a bit heftier than the DSi, but manages to be slimmer than the DS Lite.
For those looking to give your eyes a rest from a small screen, the Nintendo DSi LL will be on sale in Japan for ¥20,000, (about $220) on November 21st. No word on when we’ll see it anywhere else, although it wouldn’t hurt to release it soon. Like, tomorrow.

I’m not seeing anything that compels me to buy this, especially since I just bought a DSi earlier this year, and am quite content. The stylus would be nice, but it won’t be long before I’ll be able to buy one separately.
I still have the old bulky DS… *points and laughs at self*
I don’t know what to do if they keep coming out with others.
I wanted a Lite, but then DSi came out, and now -this-, so I really have no idea what I should do.
I think I’ll just stick with my old DS until things settle down…
I’ve got the DS Lite, and honestly, I just can’t see the appeal of the new systems. The DS is nice, sure, but extremely limited (COD4 anyone?), and at the end of the day, when you diversify your client base this much with so many versions of the same system, you’re just going to lose mass marketability, and then gain production cost. Why was the SNES popular? With the exception of Japan only accessories, the SNES was a single, universal unit. Two controllers, a multiswitch port addon, and a lightgun (that godawful cannon shit, but I digress) was all you needed, and you knew ANY game was playable.
